Although Ahmet Ümit’s novel, Swallow Scream is a detective feature, it also containsvarious social issues. It is observed that issues related to immigrants and refugees occupy an important place in the novel. In the study, it was aimed to reveal the way of handling the issues of refugee, immigration and immigrants in Ahmet Ümit’s novel Swallow Scream. The author of this work, to escape the civil war in Syria refugees who took refuge in Turkey reveals the life. He tells about the desperation, tragedy and suffering of Syrian migrants. Through the characters of Medeni, Ayber, Bercis, Fahhar al Kutubi and Azez, he conveys the difficulties that immigrants have to deal with. He strikingly describes the illegal organ trafficking through immigrants. He explains in all its dimensions how the organ mafia seeks to exploit the immigrants by taking advantage of their desperation. He covers issues related to the work of immigration asylum centers. Swallows are migratory birds. For this reason, immigrants are likened to swallow birds in the novel. One might think that the swallows’ cry represents, in a way, the cry of the migrants. Ahmet Ümit has made an important work in the history of literature by handling the subject of migration, which is both an old and a current issue as much as human history, in his novel Swallow Scream.
