Abstract


Coğrafya Merkezli Okuma Işığında Rıfat Ilgaz’ın Yıldız Karayel Romanı

The geography-centered reading method, which is based on interdisciplinary interaction, focuses on the determination and function of the geographical elements in the literary work. Re-describes the physical and human elements of a city or region in a fictional text. Rifat Ilgaz’s novel Yıldız Karayel, published in 1981, is a suitable text for geography-centered reading based on Cide and its surroundings of the Western Black Sea Region where the author lives and knows and aims to draw a panorama of its climate, landforms, vegetation, population structure, interpersonal relations, economic situation, abstract and concrete cultural elements, and political developments. There are many elements of geography in the novel, in which the change and transformation of the region and the people of the region are fictionalized. The aim of this article is to determine the geographical elements and evaluate their functions in Rıfat Ilgaz’s novel Yıldız Karayel. Our study consists of introduction, review and conclusion parts. In the introduction, information about the geography-centered reading method is given in general terms. In the analysis part, based on the data in the novel, determinations and analyzes were made about the subjects that fall into the field of physical and humanistic geography. In the conclusion part, evaluations about the text are included.
