Metaphor is a structure that is obtained by establishing various connections between concepts in the language and enables the emergence of different semantic qualities of words. In the emergence of this structure, the human factor, which interprets words from different perspectives, comes into play, and this shows that cultural factors also play an important role in the formation of the concept of metaphor. Therefore, the concept of metaphor, which has many definitions in various sources, bears important traces from the elements of the common memory created by a nation through cultural coding. The water metaphor, which carries important details from these traces, is a concept that is frequently included in the works because it contains all the concepts about life. Metaphor is a structure that can be examined in detail because it is a concept that changes and enriches according to the content of the works. In addition to many types of works that allow for detailed examination, works with religious and mystical content play a complementary role in revealing the concept of metaphor in its entirety. Because, in such works, in comparison of the sublimity of the creator with the position of human existence in the world, there is an eternity, purity, catharsis, destruction and so on. The water metaphor, which has many qualities, allows widespread use. The aim of this study is to determine which words and couplets of the work, through which words, the water metaphor is concentrated within the scope of Risâletü’n-Nushiyye, a work of master poet Yunus Emre, who created important works in Turkish Literature with his competent works. In this context, the elements of the water metaphor in the couplets in the work were interpreted and the diversity of these elements was evaluated.
