In this study, stereotyped expressions created with beast of burden in Turkish and Greek dictionaries are analyzed. The sample of the study includes expressions created with beast of burden in both languages. The expressions in question were examined in both languages based on comparative linguistics methods and classified according to qualitative methods and content analysis of animals.
Its acceptance in the life of every linguistic community and in every culture is often based on values and beliefs. In every culture, animals reflect the characters of people with their positive or negative qualities, starting from their physical characteristics and habits. Of particular interest to this study; It is the research, interpretation and evaluation of the vocabulary of two languages in terms of metaphorical expressions embedded in animal names, considering their long - term geographical and socio-cultural linguistic contact.
75 stereotyped expressions formed with 4 beast of burden in Turkish and 57 stereotyped expressions formed with 4 beast of burden were identified in Greek. Expressions between the two languages often show equivalent semantic connotations. It is aimed to create data to be used in the acquisition and translation studies of Turkish and Greek languages and to contribute to linguistic studies between the two languages.
