Abstract

Dede Korkut Karakterleri Görsel Temsillerinin Yapay Zekâ ile Yeniden Üretimi

Dedem Korkut, Dede Korkut or Korkut Ata are the oldest known epic stories of the Oghuz Turks, consisting of literary texts. Although the stories are mostly printed and read as children’s books, the Dede Korkut storytelling includes the social life styles, morals and values ??of the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic period of the nomadic Turkish peoples. The places and events in the stories reflect reality. However, especially the place representations and mythological characters are depicted as imaginary products based on textual descriptions. Therefore, the visual representations produced from the texts by artists and illustrators carry the original characters of the artist, differ according to the period and constitute a visual representation for the Dede Korkut books of the period. There are no visual representations of human and animal silhouettes in the Dede Korkut books (copies). Later, during the restoration of the manuscripts that were reproduced from these manuscripts and donated to museums, visuals were added to the printed books. In the 21st century, which is the age of technology, new digital drawings are produced via computers. In this study, examples of visual representations ranging from hand-drawn miniatures to computer programs that have been used for centuries as reminders of the characters and events in the Dede Korkut stories were given, and the artificial intelligence technology offered to us by the modern age was used in the visualization of textual stories. Visual representations were examined in all aspects in artificial intelligence productions, which are the intersection of humans and technology. The aim of the study is to produce visual representations of Dede Korkut Stories with artificial intelligence technology, in light of textual information, while remaining faithful to the original. In the study, it was concluded that artificial intelligence adheres to textual information with its wide research network and offers optional visual representations in a short time. However, in order for the visual representations to reach the desired results, the instructions or questions (prompts) directed to the artificial intelligence need to be expanded and the data sources of the programs used, especially stories such as Dede Korkut that clearly describe Turkish Culture, need to be increased.
