Abstract


Yaşar Kemal’in “Karıncanın Su İçtiği” Romanında Yer Alan İkilemeler

The elements included in the general vocabulary are; basic vocabulary, foreign words, idioms, proverbs, relationship words, formulaic words, terms, translated words. When the vocabulary of Turkish is considered, the derivation power and tendency of Turkish, forgotten old words, conceptualization, reduplications, polysemy, synonyms, old elements maintained in dialects and dialects are the titles that should be examined in this field. The reduplications under these titles are also in a noteworthy position. Because Turkish has a rich vocabulary in terms of reduplications. The vocabulary and language usage ability of an artist or writer are also reflected in their work. This relevant vocabulary is also revealed through vocabulary studies conducted on the work. In this study, the reduplications in the novel Karıncanın Su İçtiği, the second book of Yaşar Kemal's Bir Ada Hikâyesi tetralogy, which tells the story of people who are forced to leave their homes and homes due to various wars and destructions and how they establish a new life after the incredible pain they experience, were examined. The identified reduplications were examined in detail according to their semantic and morphological features. For each example, the relevant part of the text was quoted and the page number was also shown. The language used by Yaşar Kemal, who is both a good traditional narrator and the voice of the people, is the natural language used by the people. When considered from this perspective, the number of reduplications in the relevant novel is also high. It is possible to contribute to our current vocabulary regarding idioms with this study. The study is also important in terms of determining the vocabulary of the famous novelist and, according to some, the "history teller" during his time and making a comparison with today's vocabulary.
