Abstract

Ritmik Yapı Bağlamında Geleneksel Türk, Hint ve Orta Cava Gamelan Müziğine Genel Bir Bakış

The concept of rhythm, in a general sense, refers to any kind of movement that arises from the dynamism of the universe and continues in regular or irregular periods. In a specific sense, it denotes the division of a musical structure into sections in a symmetrical or asymmetrical manner while maintaining coherence and order. The roots of traditional Anatolian music, Indian music, and Gamelan music can be found in the deep historical background of these regions and their unique cultural and spiritual values. Although these musical traditions are generally classified as Eastern music based on geographical perception, this classification is not solely based on geographical orientation. Instead, it stems from the similarities in their rhythmic and melodic structures, the ways they are practically processed, and the cultural meanings attributed to them. When analyzed from a cultural perspective, it becomes evident that the concept of rhythm holds different meanings in Western and Eastern musical traditions. This study aims to examine the rhythmic structures of traditional Anatolian music, Indian music, and Gamelan music within a cultural and theoretical framework. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study utilizes a descriptive analysis method to explore these musical traditions.
