Abstract

Adalet Ağaoğlu Romanlarındaki Kadın Karakterlerin Geçmişle Bağları ve Hatıralar

Adalet Ağaoğlu is a writer who chooses to portray her characters along with their development through time. In her novels, the characters, in a way, present the justifications for the decisions they make and their personalities in the moment to the reader by going on a journey from the present to the past. The writer, who gives detail to her novels by utilizing the flashback and stream of consciousness methods, uses the memories that are suddenly recalled by the characters to express the traumas and joys of these different personalities, as well as how and why they choose the lives they have chosen, usually by making them speak. Ağaoğlu, who occasionally utilizes letters, excerpts from newspapers, dialogues, and monologues to go back to the past, uses memories intensively. It may be argued that these memories become prominent in the portrayal of female characters, and these intermittent but potent narratives that are expressed along with inner monologues usually cover traumatic events. Considering the nine novels of Adalet Ağaoğlu, it is seen that the novels Ölmeye Yatmak, Bir Düğün Gecesi, Hayır, Yazsonu, and Üç Beş Kişi are texts in which the memories of female characters are intensively addressed. In this study, based on the aforementioned novels, the traces of memories in the novels of Adalet Ağaoğlu are followed.
