Abstract


Üsküdarlı Sâfî’nin Farsça Deyimleri Öğretmek İçin Kaleme Aldığı Şîve-i Lisân-ı Fârsî İsimli Eseri

There are proverbs and idioms in every language. Idioms, which are a kind of language expression consisting of two or more words, are grammatical elements with nouns, adjectives, adverbs, simple and compound verbs that express our feelings and thoughts in a remarkable way. Idiom in Turkish; before the language revolution, it was met with the word expression. In Arabic dictionaries, the idiom was met with the words “ta'bir” and “mesel”. In the 11th century, many dictionaries belonging to various periods of Turkish dialects were prepared. In this period, Arabic and Persian in verse and prose; many dictionaries have been written in Turkish, and from Turkish to these languages. Some of these bilingual dictionaries written in the last period of the Ottoman state are annotated dictionaries. Some of these dictionaries contain idioms and similar words. In this period, grammar, potpourri type works and idiom dictionaries were written by Persian teachers to be taught in madrasahs, foundation certificate schools or Military High Schools and to be used in Persian teaching. Uskudarlı Safi, who was a poet and teacher and also worked as a civil servant for a while, three Persians works wrote out named Nevbave-i Kava'id-i Farsi, Ezhar-ı Gulistan and Shive-i Lisan-ı Farsi to use in teaching Persian to his students at Zeyrek and Cicek Pazar High School where he worked. In the study, Uskudarlı Safi's work called Shive-i Lisan-ı Farsi, which he wrote for easier teaching of Persian idioms which he sees as a cornerstone of Turkish, will be introduced.
