Abstract

Covıd-19 Salgını ve Ramazan Gelenekleri

The COVID-19 pandemic, which spreads all over the world from 2020 and was felt intensely until 2022, has suddenly made many radical changes necessary. Among the sudden changes that come to mind with the pandemic are curfews, the transition to on-line education and working model, the obligation to wear a mask after the lifting of the curfew, attention to a certain distance and compliance with the hygiene are the mainly points. The effect of the pandemic has manifested itself in religious and traditional practices as well as in the fields of health and education. The person reinforces the sense of belonging to a group/society through traditional practices. The fact that traditional practices are produced, lived / kept alive and transferred in the oral culture has brought some problems and questions when it comes in pandemic conditions. In this study, it is examined what changes the traditional practices of Ramadan which are considered religious feists, have shown in the pandemic process. The reviews are based on digital media. Feist traditions, which, by their nature, require face-to-face contact with people, have become different in the pandemic process, where the tradition is updated or re-created. Although traditions such as Eid visits/hand-kissing continue to occur despite bans in some cases and are punished for violations of the ban, it can be said that the epidemic also invented a tradition such as celebrating with together by on-line programmes. Another example on pandemic and feist traditions has been the subject of a cartoon. Here, there is a dialogue about whether there are masks and disinfectants in the feist box. Stringent conditions such as the pandemic make the adaptation process of the tradition and the practical solutions it finds more meaningful, as shown by the examples listed throuhout the study and show that the tradition finds another way to express itself and another option comes into play. And this reveals the transforming and dynamic structure of the tradition, which does not miss the current time, also in the context of the epidemic.
