In this study, it is aimed to examine the coherence and consistency of written and oral texts created by secondary school 8th grade students in terms of various variables. The research was carried out with 100 students studying in the 8th grade. The research group was determined by using convenient sampling method. A descriptive research model was used in the study. Quantitative data of the study were obtained by examining the oral and written texts created by the students with the “Level of Using Cohesion Tools”, “The Coherence Evaluation Scale of Narrative Narration” and a personal information form. During the application process, the students were given oral and written expression topics prepared in line with expert opinions. Written texts were obtained from student papers and oral texts were obtained by translating the students’ audio recordings by the researcher. In addition, the data obtained from the students using the personal information form were scaled in excel format. These data and the data obtained from the written and oral narrative texts created by the students were analyzed through the SPSS 22.0 statistics program, and the students’ use of cohesion tools and text consistency according to various variables were examined according to different variables. As a result of the research, it was seen that the students used a lower level of coherence tool in their oral texts than in their written texts, and their text consistency scores were lower in their oral texts than in their written texts. Significant differences were determined according to some variables in using cohesion tools and creating consistency in students’ oral and written texts.
