Abstract

Uygur Türklerine Ait Gunnar Jarring Koleksiyonundaki Dinî (İslam ve Hristiyanlık) İçerikli İki Yazı Üzerine

Uyghur Turks were one of the tribes with Turkish origin that had a richand well-established culture. Uyghur Turks usually lived in central geographic territory. Due to the fact that during the history they were practising belief systems like Shamanism, Totemism as well as various religions such as Manichaeism, Buddhism, Decadence and Islam Uyghur Turks’ socio-cultural life takes a special place among Turkish tribes. That’s was the reason why Western scientists have been showing their great interest towards researching Uyghurs Turks’ history. As a matter of fact in the XIX-century Western countries like Germany, Sweden and France and scientists from other European countries had succesfully obtained texts which used to belong to Uyghur Turks. Nowadays, these unique “treasures” that once used to belong to Uyghur Turks are kept in countries such as Germany, France and Sweden. Apart from information about the life of the Swedish missionary Gunnar Jarring will be provided in this study. In particular, the text from his collection, which has not been reviewed until today, will be translated. This text is a two-page text with Arabic alphabet that belongs to Uyghur Turks. These texts are registered in the Jarring Collection under inventory numbers 1907:2 and 1912:1 in the library of the Lund University of Sweden and have not been studied yet.
