The purpose of this study was to examine the listening scripts in the textbooks for teaching Turkish to foreigners in terms of mood teaching. The study was carried out with a case study one of the qualitative research designs. Materials of the study were consisted of A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 textbooks of the Istanbul Turkish for Foreigners Book Set. Data were obtained from listening scripts in the textbooks via document analysis method. Descriptive analysis was realized on the data, by using mood concepts determined based on Korkmaz’s book (2009) Türkiye Türkçesi Grameri Şekil Bilgisi. As a result of the study, in terms of instructional design, an inconsistency between the Türkçenin Yabancı Dil Olarak Öğretimi Programı and Istanbul Turkish for Foreigners book set, was determined. It was reached that the rate of mood per sentence in listening scripts is 94%. It was found that all of the topics to be taught in the listening scripts are exemplified at A1 and A2 levels, examples of the past forms of necessitative and subjunctive moods are not given at B1 level, and there was no mood topics planned to be taught at B2 level. It was determined that the narrative forms of indefinite past tense, necessitative and subjunctive-conditional moods; the conditional forms of the indefinite past tense, definite past and future tenses which were intended to be taught at the C1 level, were not included in the listening scripts. On the other hand, although not taught, the present simple, definite past and future tenses, imperative and optative moods were seen in A1 level in listening scripts and also the use of past and narrative forms of subjunctive-conditional and necessitative moods were determined at the A2 level. The untaught uses were found in the study, e.g. past, narrative and conditional forms of the moods at B1 and B2 levels and the structure of "-mak", subjunctive-conditional mood and the past form of "-mak" at the C1 level.
