In the eighteenth century, sufi activities in the Ottoman lands showed a great development. In this century, sufi culture and lodges continued to be centers of attraction. In addition, some sects branched out and continued their work in this way. Seyyid Muhammed Ma?rifî (1719-1824) is one of the leading sufis of the eighteenth century. Sayyid Muhammed Ma?rifî, who was born in Egypt, came to İstanbul and founded the Ma?rifiyye branch of the Rifâîyye order. He settled in Kartal, turned his stone-built house into a lodge and started to spread his ideas there. Sayyid Muhammed Ma?rifî at the time he was informing his disciples,he wrote Vahdetnâme and Risâle-i Âdâb and Tarîkatnâme-i Fethü'l-Ma?ârif. Both works have a Sufi content. In his poems, Sayyid Muhammed Ma?rifî mainly dealt with the love of Allah and the love of the ehlibeyt. After the death of Sayyid Muhammed Ma?rifî, respectively, Seyyid Ali Sâbit Efendi, Seyyid Muhammed Ma?rif-i Sânî and Seyyid Hasan Tâsîn Efendi served as postmasters. The lodges in İstanbul-Kasımpaşa Çürüklük, in İstanbul-Kasımpaşa-Kulaksız-İbadullah neighborhood, in İstanbul-Üsküdar-Toygartepe, in Manisa-İbrahim Çelebi neighborhood, in Manisa-Demirci, in Manisa-Akhisar, in Aydın-Kuşadası in Bursa operated in connection with the asitâne in Kartal. When the literature review study was done, it was seen that there was no tidy study related to both Seyyid Muhammed Ma?rifî and the Ma?rifiyye sect. From this point of view, it was thought that it would be useful to conduct a study on this subject. This article aims to determine the place of Seyyid Muhammed Ma?rifî and the Ma?rifiyye sect in Ottoman Sufi culture and literature.
