Nezihe Meriç is one of the storytellers, who is called the 1950 Generation and has experienced a great break in the Turkish story. The author focused on social issues in his works. The social issue that the author mostly refers to is the place and role of women in society and the struggle for existence. Nezihe Meriç looked at all the social issues she touched on in terms of being human and her being an individual, being accepted as she is, and being valued. Women who have a traditional approach in their stories (mothers, neighbors, family elders) are in conflict with “new” women who see themselves as individuals and want to act freely in all their decisions. Nezihe Meriç was the voice of the libertarian woman spirit of the period, and bravely expressed her many problems from her struggle to survive, her financial difficulties, from marriage problems to social prejudices.
