Klasik Türk Şiirinde Bir Vuslat Aracı Olarak Toprak

Love, which can be appraised to be the main topic of Turkish Poetry, is usually treated in a traditional manner. In this narrative, where the lover’s efforts to unite with the beloved, his sufferings on this path, the obstacles that stand in his way, and his loss of will and failure to reach his wish even if the possibility of union appears, it can be said that the tension arising from the insolubility between separation and union feeds the poem. In these poems that are open to both human and divine interpretations, the lover’s union with the beloved can only be achieved with their burial into the soil of the earth, so death. Looking at the divan analyzes, it can be seen that the concept of soil of the earth is the subject of poetry in many ways. It is considered as one of the four elements of existence, on the basis of its relationship with water, air and fire, but described as worthless because lower than the other elements. It is a symbol of modesty, the source of life, and man was created from it and will return to. Closely related to these and as a result of the classical Turkish poetic understanding of art, the association of the concept of the soil of the earth with union can be stated as a remarkable characteristic in

the poems. In this study, it is aimed to reveal various aspects of the mentioned relation. For this purpose, after an introduction that gives the general framework of the subject, a classification has been made based on sample couplets that can represent similar ones, and as a result, it has been tried to show that the association between the soil of the earth and union is a prominent theme that can be followed in the tradition of classical Turkish poetry.
