Abstract

Abdullâh Salâhaddîn-i Uşşâkî’nin Kasîdetü’l-Bürde’sinin Türkçe Tahmîsi

Qasida al-Burdah, is a poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, consisting of ten sections and one hundred and sixty couplets. Dozens of tahmis, tesdis, tesbi’, tastir and nazire have been written on this poem. This poem is the timeless poem of the Egyptian poet Busiri, which has been tried to be understood with hundreds of commentaries; and it has been translated into many world languages and has achieved a status that no other poem has reached. Qasida al-Burdah was also very popular in Turkish literature and one of the Turkish poets who wrote tahmis to it was Abdullâh Salâhaddîn, who wrote poems under the pseudonym Salâhî. Abdullah Salahaddin-i Uşşaki Salahi is the author of nearly a hundred works in Arabic, Persian and Turkish. In his tahmis, which has a rare place among his poems, the verses of Qasida al-Burdah were first increased to five verses in Arabic and then translated into Turkish in verse. Many studies have been conducted on Qasida al-Burdah and Salahi. The Arabic version of the tahmis has also been edited and criticized. The present study includes an analysis of the Turkish tahmis, an edition critique, a transcribed text, and a translation of the Arabic explanations of the words in the tahmis in the margin.
