Abstract

Runik Harfli Metinlerde Kadına İlişkin Sözcükler Üzerinden Kadın Algısı

With the rise of women's movements in the second half of the 20th century, in Turkey, as in the rest of the world, societies' perception and view of women have begun to be analyzed. One of the most important elements to be analyzed in order to understand the place of women in a society is language. While making these examinations, one can look at the language used by women, the language used by women for themselves and the language used by society for women in today's written and spoken language as well as in historical texts. Research on the place of women in the language of Old Turkic societies will also be a source for current studies. Runic inscriptions, which are the oldest historical records of the Turks, are the primary sources that tell first-hand about the lives of the ancient Turks as well as their culture and perspective on life. Since these texts were written and dictated by men, in their content there are no examples of the language used by women themselves; however, these texts are interesting in terms of observing the language used by society for women. In this study, the words ana, ebçi~ ewçi, eke, katun, kelin ~ keli?, kız, kisi, koduz, kunçuy, kü?, ög, si?il, uzuntonlug and yutuz ~ yotuz, which were selected from the Orkhon Inscriptions, Uyghur Inscriptions, Yenisei- Altai - Kyrgyzstan Inscriptions and runic documents written on paper, were analyzed in context with the help of sample sentences and the perception of women of the period was tried to be determined only through words and texts.
