Language is the basic tool that allows people to reflect their thoughts, feelings, perception and knowledge. The meaning and expression of mental processes such as thought, memory, attention and learning occurs through language. The relationship of language with mental processes has been one of the remarkable topics in the field of cognitive linguistics. The term cognition verbs in Turkish literature defines verbs that express mental activity such as 'to think, understand, estimate, know, remember, learn, decide and evaluate. Cognitive verbs are evaluated in the subgroup of mental verbs in semantic verb classifications. Mental verbs are divided into three groups: verbs of perception, verbs of cognition and verbs of emotion. Although there is a rich literature on mental verbs and subtypes of mental verbs in Turkey, the structures and origins of the verbs of cognition in Kazakh Turkish have not been dealt with comprehensively. This study analyzes the verbs of cognition in Kazakh Turkish, one of the contemporary dialects of the Kipchak group. Within the scope of the study, the vocabulary of cognition verbs in Kazakh Turkish was determined by scanning the work called "Kazakh Turkish-Turkey Turkish Dictionary". The verbs that are the subject of the study are classified in terms of semantics and their structure and origins are emphasized. In this study, the use of cognitive verbs in the Old Turkish period was compared with today's Kazakh Turkish It has been determined that many verbs of Turkish origin, such as bil-, ele-, a?la-, belgile-, ?anı?-, oyla-, sezin-, tüsin-, tüy-, u?-, which are used in today's Kazakh Turkish, have been preserved without changing in terms of structure and meaning.
