Yahyalı (Kayseri) region, where many types of pile, flat and warp-faced weavings are practiced, is a very rich region in terms of hand weavings. Carpets woven in Yahyalı town center and villages stand out with their traditional features. In Yahyalı; Carpet weaving has continued for many years and has survived until today. The yarns obtained from the wool and hair of the animals grown in the region were dyed by the local people with the plants and mud they found around them. Carpets were woven with a winding type loom before, and after 1950, with the intervention of tradesmen, on a tension type loom. Usage areas of carpets woven in Yahyalı region; to lay on the ground, on the sofa (bed); pillow and cushion fabrics, use while sitting; prayer rugs to worship, saddlebag and bag weaving, etc. to carry goods. is for. The subject of this article is the examination of the cushions and pillows woven in the carpet technique in Yahyalı in terms of their design features and the place of these weavings in the Yahyalı folk culture. It is not known when the cushions and pillows woven in Yahyalı first appeared. In the research, literature review, field research, face-to-face interview methods were used; 25 cushions and 30 pillow samples woven in the carpet technique were identified, 7 of which were cushions; 7 pillows are reviewed in the article.
