The subject of this article will be the commentary of a monolithic ghazal of Bâkî, who was considered the greatest poet of his age in the 16th century Kanuni period and was given the title "Sultanü'ş-şuarâ". The text of the ghazal included in the article is found in many manuscripts as well as in the Bâkî Dîvân published by Sabahattin Küçük. This ghazal was preferred because it is rich in deep meanings and Sufi metaphors. According to the information given in the sources, Bâkî generally included worldly subjects in his poems. The taste of the world and the characteristics of the lover occupy a large place in his poems. Love, lyricism and the pleasure of living are the main themes of his poems. In the sources, Bâkî is mostly described as a human love poet who is far from mysticism. Although, for Bâkî, “He did not include religious issues.” Although it is said that the poet cannot be separated from the period in which he lived. Bâkî included mystical terms and subjects in some of his poems. As a matter of fact, the aim of this study is to reveal that the poet does not only include non-religious subjects.
