The term grotesque derives from the Goths, an originally Germanic people who invaded Roman territory and spread throughout the Roman Empire over the next four centuries. Grotesque; it corresponds to expressions such as vulgar ridiculousness, strangeness, uncanny, frightening-ridiculousness. This concept, which is an ornament consisting of strange and ridiculous figures in ancient Roman buildings, has started to be used in literature later on. Written by Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar in 1932, Ölüler Yaşıyor mu? The novel contains grotesque elements in many ways. In this study, the novel Ölüler Yaşıyor mu? written by Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar was examined in terms of grotesque elements. The aim of the study is to reveal the grotesque elements discussed in the novel. While examining the grotesque elements in the novel, the characters, place and plot elements were used. In addition, the uncanny, frightening, frightening-ridiculous situations, which are important elements of the grotesque concept, were questioned and the findings were revealed.
