The continuity of the family, which is the smallest building block of the society, can be sustained by preserving some values in the family and transferring them to the next generations. In this context, education, especially Turkish education, contributes significantly to the sustainability of family existence through the literary texts it contains. Authentic texts, which are reading texts, teach students exemplary behavior, target feelings, ties that should be in the family with literary taste and an implicit expression. For this reason, texts that are included in students’ books or recommended for reading outside of school should be analyzed beforehand and their suitability for learning outcomes checked. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate Ömer Seyfettin’s stories “Fon Sadrishtayn’s Wife” and “Fon Sadrishtayn’s Son” in terms of family values and to show the contributions they will make to students in terms of family sustainability if they are used in Turkish textbooks or recommended as a reading text outside of school. The study is a qualitative research designed according to a case study. Ömer Seyfettin’s stories “Fon Sadriştayn’s Wife” and “Fon Sadriştayn’s Son” were accepted as data sources, and these were analyzed and interpreted with descriptive analysis. These analyzes have shown that for a family to live in unity, togetherness, prosperity and peace, there must be understanding, love, respect, loyalty, honesty, national, spiritual, cultural and moral values. In addition, using family income economically, living life within the framework of certain rules, supporting each other when necessary, valuing each other’s feelings and thoughts are also important in the continuity of the concept of marriage and home. In order to turn these values told by Ömer Seyfettin through stories into achievements, his stories called “Fon Sadrishtayn’s Wife” and “Fon Sadrishtayn’s Son” should be included in textbooks or assigned to students by teachers as an extracurricular reading text. This will be an important step in terms of informing and raising awareness of the new generation in terms of the formation of a healthy social order in the future and the continuity of the family institution.
