The main purpose of journal publishing is to share current information quickly with those concerned. Scientific journals have played an important role in the transfer of current scientific information, the development and dissemination of science, and the development and strengthening of scientific communication among scientists from the earliest times. The aim of this study is to examine from the beginning of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century (from 1800s to 1950s BC) from a historical point of view, when the first professional journals in the world began to be published in the field of Information and Document Management. Since the 1950s, the content of the journals operating in the field of Information and Records Management has changed for many reasons such as scientific, technological and economic. In addition, the beginning of a new period due to the intensification of specific publication activities specific to the fields of archival, librarianship and information management has been effective in determining the upper year limit. In this context, the first archival journal was published in Bamberg (Germany) in 1806 under the name Zeitschrift für Archivs- und Registraturwisscnschaft; The first librarianship journal was published in Annuaire du Bibliophile, du Bibliothécaire Et de l’Archiviste pour l’Année Paris (France) in 1861. During the period when the study was examined, 140 librarianship journals were published, including nearby areas; On the other hand, it was determined that 98 journals were published on archival together with the related fields. As a result of the study, the first professional journal activities carried out until the 1950s were not only specific to the field of archival and librarianship, but also archival, diplomatic and historical science fields; It has been understood that there is a mixed publication content tendency, including the fields of librarianship, documentation and museology. Qualitative research method and case study were used in the research, and document analysis method was used for data analysis.
