Abstract

Cumhuriyetin İlk Yıllarında Fikri Dergiler ve Felsefi Kültür

Journals are periodicals that differ from newspapers and books in terms of content, page structure, number of pages and layout, and are published at certain time intervals. They have been an effective and important part of changing and disseminating the systematizing basic dynamics of society such as thought, social life, political formation, education, art, economy, scientific development and cultural life. At the same time, journals, whose contents and various features continue to be shaped and developed through the historical, political and similar elements of society, are historical documents that guide us in understanding the intellectual tendency and philosophical culture of the years in which they were published. Especially journals of philosophy and ideas exhibit a structure in which the first reflections of ideas and approaches can be seen and the development and maturation of these ideas and approaches are realized through them. This is also true for journals of philosophy and ideas, which enable us to understand the intellectual movements and tendencies that existed in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and continued in the Republican period. Along with the developments in the field of ideas that started after the Tanzimat Edict, the rapid increase in philosophical activities after the declaration of the First and especially the Second Constitutional Monarchy was effective in the emergence of intellectual journals. Many philosophical movements and philosophers' ideas were made the subject of journals and philosophical discussions were held. Although the number of journals published with the National Struggle decreased to a certain extent, it increased again with the proclamation of the Republic. The effort to create a philosophical culture in this period continues with the intellectual journals that continue to be published or newly published. This study aims to understand the social and intellectual background of the founding of the Republic of Turkey through the journals published in the first years of the Republic after October 29, 1923, to examine how the first intellectual tendencies and thought structure were shaped, and to reveal whether there was a philosophical culture.
