Abstract

Türk Çocuk Edebiyatı Tarihini Yeniden Düşünmek: Osmanlıca Dergi ve Gazetelerde Çocuklar İçin Tefrikalar

Many literary works within the scope of Turkish children's literature can be found in magazines and newspapers published for children before the second constitutional monarchy period. In addition to genres such as poetry, stories, riddles and letters, novels in serialised form also appeared in these publications. It can be seen that the tradition of serial novels has long been an important literary movement for both children and adults in newspapers and magazines. Therefore, the increase of these publications is related to the interest of the readers. However, it is noted that the practice of writing children's Turkish children's novels began after the Republic. By reading these newspapers and magazines published for children, it has become clear that there are many works that have been almost forgotten and have not been evaluated in terms of children's literature. The hypothesis of this project is the claim that the writing of children's novels started before the second constitutional monarchy period. The research consists of several stages: reading the serial novels in newspapers and magazines published for children, evaluating them in terms of suitability with regard to the principles of children's literature, translating the appropriate ones to Latin letters and delivering these works to children in today's Turkish. Its aim is to analyse the serial novels in terms of content, language and style, to evaluate them in terms of compliance with children's literature standards and to present the results as articles and papers. Thus, it will be shown that Turkish children's literature has a wide range of products and that there were many more literary works produced before the second constitutional monarchy period than was originally thought. This study presents the serialised novels written for these children and evaluates them in terms of children's literature.
