The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a significant relationship between various variables and reading and writing motivations of primary school 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students in the Patnos district scale of Ağrı province. Accordingly, students' gender status, grade levels, parental education levels, and whether they benefited from pre-school education were determined as variables. It was tried to determine whether there was a significant relationship between the determined variables and students' reading and writing motivations. The research was carried out in 5 village primary schools in Patnos district of Ağrı province in the fall semester of 2022-2023 academic year. In order to determine the relationship between the students' reading and writing motivations and the variables, the primary school students' motivation scale consisting of 18 questions was used and applied to a total of 209 students studying in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. The data obtained from the scale were analyzed with the help of SPSS 26.0 program using Independent samples t-test and One-way anova tests. When the results are considered in general, it is seen that especially female students' reading and writing motivation levels are higher than male students. In addition, according to the students who received preschool education, compared to the students who did not receive preschool education; It was observed that 3rd and 4th grade students were higher in reading motivation than 2nd grade students. However, in terms of reading and writing motivations, no difference was found according to the education of the students' parents. Based on these results, it was suggested to investigate the reasons why male students lag behind female students in reading and writing motivations.
