8. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Eleştirel Dinleme Becerilerinin İncelenmesi

The purpose of this research is to examine the 8th grade students’ critical listening skills. The study group of the research designed in the descriptive survey model consists of 101 8th grade students studying in Hatay Antakya in the 2020-2021 academic year. The students in the study group, 51 female and 50 male students were determined by convenient sampling method. Personal Information Form and Critical Listening Skills Assessment Tool developed by the researchers were used to collect data in the study. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent sample t-test were employed to analyze the data. As a result of the study, a significant difference was found between the critical listening skills of the students participating in the research and the educational status of their mothers -in favor of the students whose mothers were university graduates. In addition, significant difference was observed between students’ critical listening skills and the number of books read annually - in favor of those who read more than 15 books -, Turkish course grade - in favor of those with a grade of 5 - and the time spent in front of computers, tablets, TV - in favor of those who spend 1-2 hours a day. However, no significant difference was found between their critical listening skills, and gender and educational status of their fathers.
