Abstract

Çocuk Dilinden Uyarlanan Sözcüklerin Türkçeye Kazandırılması

Language, which is one of the important stages of development and begins to form in infancy, has a complex structure. This complex structure has been modified and developed by human beings over time, within certain principles and methods. One of the important features that distinguish human beings from other living things is their ability to use these language-specific rules. The functioning of language, which is shaped and matured in the natural environment without education, has always been a subject of curiosity. For many years, important studies have been conducted on the birth, development and acquisition of language. One of these studies is the research on child language. These studies, which require diligence and patience, can be carried out with family, environment, peers, school and some people or institutions in cooperation. Vocabulary studies are also one of the fields that have been thought about a lot today and are important in answering some questions about language. The vocabulary, which is defined as the vocabulary of a language, consists of the words used by human beings in spoken language. These words are sometimes forgotten and revived in the historical process, and sometimes they consist of original words derived in line with human needs. It is known that new structures and words are derived by people in almost every age group on the basis of language creativity. This study, which hopes to contribute to the vocabulary and bring a different perspective to research, will hopefully find answers to some questions within the framework of language acquisition and language use, with the help of children. The vocabulary of a language can also be enriched with words borrowed from children’s language. In this context, the study focuses on the identification of words derived by children. Because the creative power of the child’s mind and the child’s ability to adapt a language to its own rules are quite successful. In order to contribute to such research, which requires a lot of effort and patience, this study constitutes only one aspect of an important research such as language acquisition in children. The study includes children who are over the age of 20 today and is evaluated in the context of determining the words they created in their own language universe between the ages of 2-6. The words of these children, who are now over the age of 20, were obtained in line with the opinions of their families. Together with the other words obtained through the observations of the families and recorded as a result of the interviews, a total of 23 words were identified from 20 different children. The study was handled in the context of finding Turkish equivalents for words of foreign origin rather than sounds or words that children have difficulty in pronouncing. For example, as a result of the child’s language creativity, snail became “kıtır”, telephone became “konuşacak”, sneakers became “koşkoş ayakkabı”, nail clippers became “kıt kıt”, helicopter became “hoptayay”, and racket became “topatar”.
