Bedenlenmiş Algı Bağlamında Kentte Yürüyüşün Sanatsal Pratikleri

Walking, despite being an ordinary movement in daily life, is a holistic experience involving the simultaneous engagement of the body, consciousness, mind, and senses. Although walking is the most fundamental relationship a person establish with the world, the pressures of everyday life have disrupted this relationship. This disrupted has led individuals to lose their bodily awareness and their connection with their surroundings. For this reason, this article seeks to present artistic expressions created within the framework of bodily and sensory awareness in relation to the city.

The concept of walking is addressed in the article through approaches ranging from Aristotle to contemporary thinkers; in the field of art, walking is examined from the perspective of flâneurism to Situationist drifting, from performance art to sensory walks. Using qualitative research methods, the article examines artists who re-experience the city through walking. In addition, works featuring artistic and sensory walks in which the participant also takes part have been included. The aim of the article is to focus on the emergence of the body's changing perceptions and sensations through the practice of walking in a work of art. While using walking to create awareness on both an individual and collective level, the artists sought to increase the motivation of art in everyday life. At the same time, artistic walking practices in the city, which activate the individual's sensations through art, contributed to the emergence of the viewer's personal story about the city. In conclusion, the article demonstrates that walking is a powerful means of expression that transforms the relationship between the human body, the world and the self in an aesthetic way.
