The Sheikh Said rebellion started on February 13, 1925 and spread to Ergani, Bingöl, Elâzığ and Diyarbakır in a short time. The government quickly suppressed the rebellion by resorting to military measures. Sheikh Said and his friends, who started the rebellion, were tried in the Eastern Independence Tribunal and sentenced to death. As the rebellion began and spread, both national and local newspapers began to cover the incident. Newspapers in the provinces of Amasya, Çankırı, Bartın, Elâzığ, Kocaeli, İzmir and Adana both announced the events in the region to the public and made evaluations about the rebellion. While some newspapers followed the incident from beginning to end and reported it to their readers, some newspapers occasionally mentioned on the rebellion. Newspapers commented on the starting point of the rebellion in their evaluations. It is seen that the evaluations of the Anatolian press about the cause of the rebellion differ. While some newspapers evaluated the incident as a separatist Kurdish rebellion, some newspapers evaluated it as a reactionary act against the republic. Within the scope of the research, the existing newspapers published in Anatolia in 1925, when the rebellion took place, were examined and the newspapers that were relevant to our subject were included in the article. ?
