The dialects of Turkey Turkish are rich in kinship terms. This richness has attracted the attention of researchers and led to the examination of the subject in linguistic studies. Some kinship terms that are not found in the standard language are widely used in Turkey Turkish dialects. Likewise, certain kinship terms that have fewer meanings in the standard language are observed to have broader semantic ranges in dialects. This situation has made it necessary to delimit the subject for detailed analysis. Therefore, the study is restricted to the word aba and its variants, which denote kinship in Turkey Turkish dialects. Originating in the earliest written sources of the Turkish language, such as the Old Turkic and Old Uyghur texts, the word aba stands out among other kinship terms due to the abundance of its variants and the diversity of its meanings. This feature has influenced its selection for analysis. The word aba and its variants are used in Turkey Turkish dialects with meanings such as elder sister, mother, stepmother, foster mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt (maternal and paternal), younger sister who has reached maturity, lady, madam, and father.

For the identification of these data, the Derleme Sözlüğü (Compilation Dictionary) has been taken as the primary source, and dialect studies with dictionaries or indexes have also been utilized. The study, focusing on the word aba, aims to reveal the diversity and semantic richness of kinship terms used in Turkey Turkish dialects and thereby contribute to Turkish language research.
