In the 15th century, which is accepted as the beginning of Ottoman historiography, anonymous Ottoman chronicles were also written in addition to the chronicles whose authors are known. These anonymous chronicles, called Tevârîh-i Âl-i Osman, are the works seen in large numbers during the reign of Bayezid II, who was on the throne in the last nineteen years of the 15th century. In addition to their importance for Ottoman history, these chronicles are also important for Turkish folk literature. The proverbs in these works, which contain valuable products of folk literature, constitute the subject of this study. The text prepared by Prof. Dr. Necdet Öztürk and published under the name of Anonymous Ottoman Chronicle was taken as basis in the study. As a result of the examination, it is determined that many proverbs are quoted in the work on the occasion of various events and situations. In this study, the following method was used while examining the proverbs: The proverbs in the work are numbered according to their place in the work from the beginning to the end, the explanation is made after each proverb is given, and then it is explained on which event or situation the proverb was used for. Finally, today’s usages of proverbs, which are compared with today’s proverbs, are given. It is determined that these proverbs, which are discussed together with the events and situations in which they were used for, are still used in the same way or in different ways, except for one.
