Literary products are one of the most important reflectors of a society an its culture. It is possible to see this reflection more vividly and comprehensively in literary products that develop orally. The roots of folk literature, as a literary tradition that was formed from folk culture and whose scope is quite wide, go back to the period of oral literature. Tales from folk literature genres that were born and developed in the oral environment, transferred to the masses and found in almost every culture; they carry the traces of the culture of the past and the period to a large extent. They have various commonalities and similarities depending on the interactions, lifestyles and ways of thinking of societies. In this study, German tales that Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm transferred from oral culture to written culture and tales in Turkish Folk Literature are discussed. Four German tales and six Turkish tales were compared in terms of place, person, time and plot; The similarities and commonalities between the narratives have been revealed. These narratives are given with brief summaries in the study. Then, similarities and commonalities between these narratives were determined. Context-based evaluation of the identified common points was made. As a result of the study, “content-subject” and “imagination” similarities were found between Grimm Tales and Turkish fairy tales.
