Özet

One of the 19th Century Poets İsmail Hakkı from Erzurum and His Mawlid

The 19th century was a period in which diwan poetry began to lose its impact and existence due to the reforms under Western influence. Regardless, texts with religious-Sufism (mystical) content continued to be written in the line of diwan literature. İsmail Hakkı, a 19th-century poet, is one of the poets who wrote works of religious-Sufistic nature. There is no record of İsmail Hakkı in poets' biographies (tezkires) or other bibliographic sources. Information about him was obtained from his works. İsmail Hakkı, a poet from Erzurum, lived during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz (1830-1876). The poet, who appears to have been educated on religious sciences, has a work named ''Mawlid''. The author's copy of the text consists of three hundred leaves. The text was written in verse. The text, which is written in seven parts, narrates the creation of the universe, the birth of the Prophet, his migration, ascension into the Miraj, various miracles, his death, the signs of the doomsday, and the life of the hereafter. Although the poet describes his book as a mawlid and can be included in the prophetic biography literature it is seen that, in terms of content, the text does not show characteristic mawlid features. This study provides the information about the life of İsmail Hakkı from Erzurum, and mentions work introduced and examined in terms of form and content.
