Many poets in Turkish and world literature have conveyed the city they live in and elements of it into their poems. Poet and poem have a substantial effect in evading a city from dimension of place and owning different identities. Osmaniye, the point ways and cultures cross, is an important bridge between Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Southern and Eastern Anatolia. At the present, Mehmet Avşar is one of the people who undulates the poem flag of Osmaniye which is also fertile in terms of literature. Avşar, born in 1941 and grown up in Osmaniye, is one of the teacher poets and has served in several cities of our country, firstly in his hometown Osmaniye. One of the themes Avşar often handles in his poems is Osmaniye and beauty belonging to its environment. Avşar; who handled Osmaniye in several aspects in most of his poems, has a great enthusiasm for this geography’s plain, mountain, stone and highland. In this work, the subject of Osmaniye in Avşar’s poems has been handled. 132 poems and 99 verses from the book named and written by Gökşen and Çetinkol “Mehmet Avşar/ Hayatı, Sanatı ve Şiirleri ‘‘ were included in this work. As a result of examinations conducted, it is detected that there are elements belong to Osmaniye in 35 poems and 9 verses. A qualitative way was conducted in the work and literature scanning, text analysis and interview techniques were used. The purpose of the work is detecting the “city-poem-poet” relationship in poems of Mehmet Avşar specific to Osmaniye.
