Categories like organ, kinship, number, color, geographical, time names, and basic verbs are key conceptual areas in language. Among these, time has been a factor in regulating and determining actions such as sleeping/waking up, feeding, fighting, resting, landing/migrating in Turkish social and military life. This study examines the tün word family, primarily a time-related term, also used to denote place through its derivatives. The aim is to present the complete word family and analyze phonetic, morphological, semantic characteristics of the words synchronically and diachronically. This research, based on the texts of the relevant period, provides an evidence-based examination of the word family. It was seen that the words derived from the word tün that we can follow in historical periods are tüne-, tünek, tüner-, tünet-, tünle and tü?lük. Additionally, the word tün was combined with the words kün and ?at-, resulting in the structures tünekün and tün ?atar. Among the derivatives, the words tüne- and tünek attract attention in terms of their change in meaning. The study discussed about the reasons for this transition and an attempt was made to draw attention to this issue. In addition, evaluations were made about the structures of the expressions tünekün and tün ?atar.

Organ adları, akrabalık adları, sayı adları, renk adları, coğrafi adlar, zaman adları, temel fiiiller gibi kategoriler dilin ana sözcükleridir. Sözü edilen kategorilerden zaman, Türk sosyal ve askerî hayatında uyumak/uyanmak, beslenmek, savaşmak, dinlenmek, konmak/göçmek gibi eylemleri düzenlemede önemli bir etken olmuştur. Bu çalışmada temelde zaman adı kategorisine ait olup çeşitli türevleriyle mekân ifade etmede de kullanılan tün sözcük ailesi üzerinde durulmuştur. Tün sözcük ailesinin sunulmasının, sözcüklerin eş ve art zamanlı olarak fonetik, morfolojik ve semantik özelliklerinin bir bütün hâlinde ortaya konulmasının amaçlandığı bu çalışma, dönem metinleri esasında oluşturulmuştur. Tün sözcüğünden türeyen ve tarihî dönemlerde takip edebildiğimiz sözcükler tüne-, tünek, tüner-, tünet-, tünle ve tü?lük sözcükleridir. Ayrıca tün sözcüğünün kün ve ?at- sözcükleri ile birleşmesi sonucu tünekün ve tün ?atar yapıları da oluşmuştur. Tüne- ve tünek sözcükleri anlam değişikliği yönünden dikkat çekmektedir. Çalışmada bu geçişin sebepleri ile ilgili birtakım fikirler yürütülmüştür. Bununla birlikte tünekün ve tün ?atar ifadelerinin yapıları hakkında değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır.
