Literary works offer us the examples of the reality of human and life, plotted with artistic sensitivity and these works are a reflection of the society they belong to. Literary works issue the events of the society they belong to, the problems and troubles that society face and many more. From this point of view, social problems in literary works enlighten the characteristics of the society they come from. One of the main goals of children’s literature is to make them feel the problems of the society they live in. Rıfat Ilgaz, a socialist realist writer, wrote books for children as well as adults. “Bacaksız Serisi” consists of five books written by Ilgaz for children.The aim of this study is to determine which social problems are studied in the novels in Rıfat Ilgaz’s Bacaksız Serisi. In this study based on the scanning model, five children’s novels “Bacaksız Kamyon Sürücüsü”, “Bacaksız Okulda”, “Bacaksız Paralı Atlet”, “Bacaksız Sigara Kaçakçısı”, “Bacaksız Tatil Köyünde” in Rıfat Ilgaz’s “Bacaksız Serisi ” were analyzed with the “categorical analysis” method which is one of the methods of “content analysis”. The main categories were determined as “political problems”, “economic problems”, “family problems”, “religious problems”, “educational problems” and “cultural problems”, cited by the study of Sipahioğlu (2015). Frequency and percentage calculations were made in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the category with the highest frequency was economic problems, followed by educational problems and family problems and political problems were the lowest. In the analyzed novels, there were no data on religious and cultural problems.
