Ikdü’l-Cuman fi Tarii Ehli’z-Zaman; Hanefî fakihi, tarihçi, hadis ve dil âlimi Bedreddin el-Aynî’nin (ö. 855/1451) Hz. Adem'den başlayarak 850 (1446) yılına kadar olan hadiseleri umumi tarih niteliğinde kaleme aldığı Arapça yazılmış geniş hacimli bir tarih kitabıdır. Memluk döneminde yazılan ve kısaca Ikdü’l-Cuman adıyla bilinen eserin birkaç nüshası vardır. Kimi nüshaları 23, kimileri ise 36 ciltten oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Veliyyüddin nüshası esas alınmıştır. Veliyyüddin nüshası 23 cilt hacminde olup ciltlerin sayfa sayısı 280’den 860’a kadar çıkabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada Ikdü’l-Cuman’daki Arapça şiir parçalarında geçen Türk etnonimini ifade eden “Türk, Etrak, Türki, Türkiyye” gibi kelimeler ele alınmıştır. Memluk hâkimiyeti altında, hem Türkçeye hem de Arapçaya hâkim olan bir yazar tarafından yazılan eser, Mısır’ın Türklerin hâkimiyeti altında bulunduğu dönemleri de kapsadığından içinde Türklerle ilgili çok sayıda bilgi ve Türkçe ibare vardır. Diğer Türkçe ibare ve bilgiler bir yana bırakıldığında, el yazmasının tamamında Türk etnonimini ifade eden toplam 1028 kelime tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen kelimelerin 20’si şiir parçalarında geçmektedir. Çalışmamızda sadece şiir parçalarında geçen Türk etnonimini ifade eden kelimeler tespit edilmiş ve bunların kullanıldığı anlam ve bağlamlar değerlendirilmiştir.

Ikdü'l-Cuman is a large-volume history book written in Arabic during the Mamluk period. In the book, the events starting from Prophet Adam until the year 850 are described. The book was written by Hanafi jurist, historian, hadith and language scholar Bedreddin el-Aynî’nin (Death 855/1451). The work has several manuscripts. Some manuscripts of the work consist of 23 volumes, while others consist of 36 volumes. In this study, the copy of Veliyyüddin was taken as a basis. The Veliyyüddin copy has a volume of 23 volumes and the number of pages in the volumes can range from 280 to 860. In this study, words such as "Turk, Etrak, Turki, Turkiye", which express the Turkish ethnonym in the Arabic poetry pieces in Ikdü'l-Cuman, are discussed. Written by a writer who was fluent in both Turkish and Arabic under the Mamluk domination, the work includes many information and Turkish phrases about the Turks, as it covers the periods when Egypt was under the domination of the Turks. Leaving other Turkish phrases and information aside, a total of 1028 words expressing the ethnonym Turk were identified throughout the manuscript. 20 of the detected words are in the pieces of poetry. In our study, only the words expressing the ethnonym Turk in the pieces of poetry were determined and the meanings and contexts in which they were used were evaluated.
