The Ministry of National Education prepared a directive on the teaching career steps, professional development studies and training program dated 13/05/2022 and numbered 49594775, and the procedures and principles regarding the promotion of teachers in the teaching career ladder were determined. In this study, it was aimed to determine the opinions of Turkish teachers about the regulation on candidate teaching and teaching career steps published in the Official Gazette, and to determine the results of the regulation. The data of the study, which used phenomenological design from qualitative research designs and descriptive model as design type, were collected from 14 Turkish teachers working in the city center of Bayburt in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the data collection process, a semi-structured interview form consisting of 14 questions was used. Content analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the research. Based on the evaluation made specifically for Turkish teachers, it can be said that the Regulation on Advancement in the Teaching Career Levels did not meet the expectations, and besides, the regulation is very important for the teaching profession to be a career profession. In order to eliminate the problems related to the content and implementation of the regulation and to eliminate the deficiencies of the system, the regulation on promotion in the teaching career ladder should be reviewed based on the opinions of the teachers.
