Literature is an artistic field in which the informative and emotional functions of the language are actively involved. Oral literature, which includes the first products of literature, presents numerous collective texts that aim to convey information and affect, in which the artistic perspective is in the background. The most basic function of language is communication, so the purpose of every element created with language is to convey something. A literary product can give the reader/listener objective information about events and phenomena in the past, about the outside world; it can activate the emotions in his inner world. In oral literature products, information and emotions are given to the listener as symbols, knitted with national codes, and processed into the texture and infrastructure of the text. The listener understands these symbols and codes belonging to their national culture. The emotion that is wanted to be conveyed and experienced permeates the listener. Ethical values, past experiences, sadness and joy, and all cultural elements in the collective memory are thus transferred from generation to generation. During the long winter nights, when production activities and physical activity stopped, people gathered in a place and engaged in mental activities, keeping the social structure together and ensuring cultural continuity. In these activities, oral literature products took place as a means of entertainment, humor and pleasure. The continuity of values, emotions and experiential knowledge in society was established through riddles, epics, tales, stories and folk songs. It has various functions and benefits in terms of individual and social aspects. In these products, the mind/emotion structure that constitutes the inner world of the individual and society is revealed. Emotions, which can be seen as the reflection of the outer world in the inner world of the individual, are reflected in the language. The way of expressing feelings and thoughts of each language is different from each other. Emotional memory is at the forefront with its stimulant aspect, which leaves a permanent mark on the mind and serves as a danger signal in the mind of the individual. Although the ways in which languages express emotions differ in this context, eight emotions are basically mentioned: joy, sadness, love, disgust, fear, anger, shame and surprise. Fairy tales reflect the world of emotions and thoughts of the society. They have a rich content in terms of emotional function of language and educational function. In this study, the language of expression of emotion in the fairy tale Altın Bulbul was examined, and it was seen that the eight basic emotions love, joy, fear, anger, sadness, and surprise were used predominantly. Emotion indicators are explained cognitively and in terms of their functions in the fairy tale.
