Medeniyetlerin yaşadığı kırılmalar pek çok gelenek ve fikrin yeniden sorgulanmasına sebep olur. Türk nazım dilinde asırlarca kullanılan ve kendine has estetik bir zevki bünyesinde barındıran aruz vezni de farklı edebiyat ve fikir akımlarının etkisiyle ciddi eleştirilere hedef olmuştur. Bu bağlamda aruzun Anadolu sahası Türk şiir dilindeki en meşhur ve öncü örneklerinden Vesîletü’n-necât’ın üçüncü beyti Osmanlı düşünce ve siyaset tarihinin önemli ismi Ahmed Cevdet Paşa tarafından tenkit edilmiştir. Vezin gereği yapılan kısa ve uzun okuyuşların Türkçenin lehçesini bozduğunu belirten Cevdet Paşa parmak hesabı da denilen hece vezninden yana olduğunu açıkça ifade eder. Bu görüşleri milli edebiyat ve milli vezin tartışmalarında aruz karşıtlarının elinde bir silah olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmada öncelikle aruz vezninin hece yapısını dönüştüren temel mantığı ele alındıktan sonra Süleyman Çelebi’nin bahse konu olan tasarrufları incelenecektir. Bu hususta ahenge katkı sağlayan kimi uzun okuyuşların ana Türkçedeki asıl yapıyla olan bağlantısı ortaya koyulacaktır. Ardından Cevdet Paşa’nın belirttiği gibi Süleyman Çelebi’nin Türkçenin lehçesini bozup bozmadığı, bozduysa dilin hangi yapısına zarar verdiği üzerinde durulacaktır. Şiir dilinin halk diliyle olan yakınlık ve uzaklığı bağlamında konuyla ilgili yapılan tespitler sıralanacaktır. Bu sayede bugün hâlâ zihinlerde yer eden “Türkçenin yapısı ve aruz çatışması”na farklı bir açıdan cevap aranacaktır.

The ruptures of civilizations cause many traditions and ideas to be questioned again. Prosody meter has been used in Turkish verse for centuries and has created a unique aesthetic pleasure. This meter has been the target of serious criticism under the influence of different literary and intellectual movements. However, the aruz meter has been persistently used by Turkish authors for centuries. In this context, the third couplet of Wasilat al-Najat, one of the most famous and pioneering examples of prosody in the Anatolian field of Turkish poetry, was criticized by Ahmed Cevdet Pasha, an important figure in the history of Ottoman thought and politics. Cevdet Pasha, who states that short and long readings made in accordance with the meter distort the dialect of Turkish, clearly states that he is in favor of the syllabic meter, which is also called finger calculation. These views were used as a weapon in the hands of opponents of arud in the debates on national literature and national meter. Arud opponents put forward the ideas of Cevdet Pasha as definitive proof. In this research, first of all, the basic logic that transforms the syllable structure of arud meter will be discussed, and then Süleyman Çelebi's savings will be examined. In this regard, the connection of some long readings that contribute to harmony with the main structure in the main Turkish will be revealed. Then, as Cevdet Pasha stated, it will be emphasized whether Süleyman Chelebi corrupted the dialect of Turkish, and if so, which structure of the language he damaged. In the context of the proximity and distance of the language of poetry with the language of the public, the determinations made on the subject will be listed. In this way, an answer will be sought from a different perspective to the "structure of Turkish and the conflict of prosody", which is still in the minds today.
