Reduplications, which have an important place in the vocabulary of Turkish, are seen in every period of the Turkish language. Reduplications are frequently used both in prose and in poetry for purposes such as strengthening and reinforcing the meaning. Reduplications, which are generally defined as word groups formed by using the same word as synonyms or close, opposite or reminiscent words side by side, are usually given under the title of "repetition group" in grammar books. There are theses, articles, papers and books prepared/presented by researchers about the reduplications that make up the vocabulary of the language. In the studies, reduplications were generally evaluated in terms of form/structure/task. Except for a few studies, the meaning of reduplications and its contribution to the sentence has not been elaborated. In the definitions made about reduplication, the emphasis is placed on " strengthening" and "reinforcing" in terms of meaning. When evaluated in the context of a sentence, the reduplications are strengthening, reinforcement, exaggeration, continuity, unity/integrity, everywhere/everyone; approximation etc. seems to add meaning. Based on these points, in order to reveal that the reduplications used in every period of the Turkish language are also used in the poems of the folk poets and to determine what meanings these repetition groups give to the sentences in which they are used, the poems of the folk poets were scanned and the repetition groups in these poems were determined. Identified repetition groups are grouped in terms of meaning and given with their use in the text. It has been seen that the examples of reduplication given with their use in the text add meanings such as exaggeration, continuity, unity/integrity, everywhere/everyone, approximation, prediction, duplication, ordering as well as strengthening and reinforcing in terms of meaning.
