In this study, Ömer Zülfü Livaneli’s novel Huzursuzluk (Unrest) is examined and the sources and causes of the examples of violence depicted in the novel, in which said violence is shown as the main reason for the unrest, are emphasized. The phenomenon of mass violence based on the example of Yazidis; violence against children, women, who are more vulnerable after animals and constantly victimized, and against men, who are both victims and perpetrators of violence, have been studied in detail. In line with the messages of the novel the thesis that violence does not ask for address and does not choose gender has also been brought forward through the protagonist Hüseyin, a homicide victim with the same name and partially the same fate with Hz. Hüseyin (St. Hüseyin). In this context, information was given about the types of economic, physical, psychological, sexual, religious and political violence; the interaction of these phenomena with the patriarchal structure has been mentioned and the effects of violence on individuals, society, children, women and men have been tried to be conveyed with quotations from the novel. The reality of terrorism and terrorists, which is fed mostly by tradition and cold war methods, exhibited by ‘törerists’ (terrorists that also abuse custom) has been pointed out and determined as the source and examples of violence. In the background, it has been stated that governments and their rulers that do not make legal arrangements, do not implement existing laws or wage wars of tutelage through terrorist organizations are also protectors and supporters of violence. It has been determined that there is a relationship between one type of violence and another, as an example, people who inflict violence on animals do not mind inflicting it on other people; the ways to get out of the spiral of violence are examined through the types and examples of violence detected and exhibited. It has been seen that the history and tradition of violence are the most compelling facts and justifications in front of the struggle. The sentence “I was a human!”, which is mentioned as a leitmotif in the novel, represents the thematic essence. According to the phrase ‘Man dies, humanity doesn’t.’ violence kills humanity first. In this context, “Humanity and the peace for humanity begins with eliminating violence.” can be summarized as the main message of the novel.
